Today in the Kindergarten class our lesson was on Jesus' Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem. I made this song for us to sing after the lesson. I did not write the song but can't think at the moment what bible class book it came from. After we finished the lesson I let the kids act out the story. They absolutely loved this!! We used palm branches that came from Oriental trading (at least I think that's where Becky got them.) They were made of foam which made them sturdy enough for the kids to wave. You could just make them from construction paper too and add a popsicle stick to the back as a stem. I brought in a stick horse which became our donkey for the lesson.
Song- "Oh Come and Sing Along" (tune: The Farmer in the Dell)
Oh come and sing along.
Oh come and sing along.
We'll wave some palms and sing some songs
Oh come and sing along
The boys will sing along.
The boys will sing along.
They'll wave their palms and sing some songs
The boys will sing along.
The girls will sing along.
The girls will sing along.
They'll wave their palms and sing some songs
The girls will sing along
We'll lay our branches down.
We'll lay our branches down
We'll lay our coats and branches down
As Jesus rides to town.
Our palm branch and "donkey". It would also be good to bring in some coats or robes and lay them down on the ground for "Jesus" to ride over. I meant to do this and just forgot to grab them before I left.
My class acting out the lesson.
