Stars in My Crown Bulletin Board

I put this crown bulletin board up one year to help the kids to remember to bring their Bibles to class. Each time they brought their Bible, they got a star sticker on their crown.

Trash-Filled Thursdays - Paper Towel Scroll

We have used this countless times in Bible class. you need two paper towel rolls and roll of white paper. We added cardboard circles to the ends of the paper towel rolls and then spray painted them black. Once it had dried, we attached the ends of the paper to the paper towel rolls (a heavy glue or tape works well). Then we rolled the paper up on the rolls to form the scroll.
The scroll is something many children have trouble with because we don't use a scroll today. However, this visual gives them an idea of what it was like and how it was used.

Israel's First Kings

I love to use children's drawings to decorate my classroom or to make flipcharts to review stories. Recently I helped the children draw pictures of Israel's First Kings. We use these to review these men as we sing the song"Israel's First Kings." I thought they did a great job!

Melody Monday: Israel's First Kings

When teaching about the United Kingdom and Saul, David, and Solomon, I use this song to help the children remember:

Israel's First Kings

Israel's first kings, 1-2-3
Were Saul, David, and Solomon.
Israel's first kings, 1-2-3
Were these great men.

Saul was tall, taller than all.
David would keep his father's sheep.
Solomon, David's son, was the wisest man of all.

Israel's first kings, 1-2-3
Were Saul, David, and Solomon.
Israel's first kings, 1-2-3
Were these great men.

There's another verse, but I can't remember the part that goes with Saul. David, the king, liked to sing. Solomon, David's son, built the temple in his day.

Don't Hesitate to Ask Part I

When you are different places don't hesitate to ask them for supplies for your classroom. Arby's is great to give your french fry holders. They have the best because they can stand up all on their own!!! So, make a game out of them!! We have a french fry die cut we use to make our french fries but you can make your own out of yellow construction paper or a yellow sponge. French Fry holders are great for sorting games. For this one, our students were putting the books of the Bible into the different divisions. Each book of the Bible was on a french fry. At the start of the center game, all the french fries were in the fry holder labeled "Books of the Bible." To play the game, the students place the fry in the correct holder.
You can also do "Kings of Judah vs Kings of Israel," "Judge or King," "Writers of the Bible," and even descriptions of Bible characters. It is endless what you can do!!
