Five Loaves and Two Fishes-Song

Here is another very cute song to use when teaching "Jesus Feeds 5000"

I found a picture to go along with each verse and printed the words on the back and made it into a flip chart song!

Jesus Feeds a Crowd

Here is a cute song to use with a lesson on Jesus feeding the 5000. This song was found in the book "Bible Songs and Action Rhymes" The book suggest using a lunch box when singing this song! I did use this song with my 2 year olds and even though it's a little long they liked it because of the lunchbox. It kept them interested!



(Tune: "Hush, Little Baby")

Five Little loaves and two little fish,
one small boy and a great big wish
to hear Jesus from a hillside rock.
He followed Jesus with his lunch box.

A large crowd of people came that day
to hear Jesus and learn his ways.
The crowd grew hungry and needed fed.
The only food was fish and bread.

To Jesus this boy gave his lunch.
Just a little, but soon was much.
Jesus prayed and blessed the bread;
then 5000 folks were fed.

Jesus is God's special one.
He's God's one and only Son.
He can do may wonderful things!

The book suggest doing this while singing!
As you sing the first verse, place the bread (or crackers) and 2 fish (toy or paper) into the lunch box and close the lid. At the end of the second verse, open the lunch box and show fish and bread. On the third verse, act as though you're passing out the lunch to each child.

Talk with children about how we can share what we have with God and with others.

Feeding the 5000

CRAFTS

I taught the 2 year olds this year at VBS. They were a lot of fun. We did several crafts each night to go along with the lesson. One of our lessons was about Jesus feeding the 5000. Kim taught the 3 year olds and may have some different things to share from her class to go along with this lesson.

We made loaves and fish necklaces using Ziti and paper fish.

Kim's class made these cute baskets by cutting off the top half of a brown paper lunch sack and adding a construction paper handle. They counted out 5 loaves and 2 fish to go in their baskets.

My class made these baskets by lacing yarn around the edges and placing 5 loaves and 2 fish inside. Kim found this pattern for us but any basket pattern would work by punching holes along the edges. As you can see in the pictures I starting the lacing for my 2 year olds and just had them finish the last few holes with the assistance of my helpers. They enjoyed doing this craft.

We did a very simple fish craft to go along with this lesson. I found this cute pattern online and enlarged it and had the kids glue tissue paper all over it. They love doing anything that allows them to use glue!!

We sang several cute songs and did a couple of other activities to go along with this lesson. We will try to post those soon
